The film had the potential to be truly something powerful.
1 - Powerful subject matter (rape, racism, police corruption, toxic masculinity) You name it this film really covered some of the most poignant and important topics in American society, yet marginalized every single point it was trying to make.
2 - Superb Cast (4 A listers, Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell, Peter Dinklage) You could not have casted better for each role (besides Sheriff Willoughby's strange English wife WTF. br> 3 - Location / Cinematography / Soundtrack (superb)
4 - Story (A mother posts billboards on a deserted stretch of highway to encourage the local police force to solve the horrific rape and murder of her daughter)

Because of the nonsensical plot twists, the inplausible and impossible coincidences and the flat out bad writing and bad acting this movie simply blew it.
Fails:
1 - Woody Harrelson's character explains to Frances McDormand's character in the first ten minutes that they have done everything in their power by cross referencing the DNA samples found with databases nationwide and that there were absolutely no leads. Therefore her persisting in keeping the billboards up just doesn't make sense. br> 2 - Why didn't the cops just deface/destroy the billboards from the beginning if they were so corrupt and didn't give a shit about the rule of law. br> 3 - The dentist who just happened to be one of the people complaining about the billboards insists on pulling out FM's tooth without even looking at it. She then proceeds to drill a hole through his thumb.
4 - Woody committing suicide. At that critical point in the film with the billboards and him showing only the first signs of even being sick. The guy is the chief of police and the entire town thought so highly of him. NO WAY he would just kill himself like that.
5 - The conversation Woody and his wife had on the couch was just way too dirty and bizarre and why all of a sudden was she speaking with a British accent. br> This just completely through the film out of sync.
6 - The scene with the surviving daughter was just contrived and bad and made Frances just look like a horrible mother.
7 - The breakfast scene the next morning and her ex-husband overturning the table while the 19 y/o girlfriend looks on. br> 8 - Sam Rockwell smashing the front door, beating the advertiser, breaking the window, throwing him out the window, assaulting the secretary, and again beating the advertiser in plain sight of the soon new to be African American chief of police who does nothing. Rockwell is not arrested and sits at his desk while the film cuts to a news report about the chief's death and if the billboards may have contributed to his suicide.
9 - The news inferring that there may be a link to his death and the billboards paid for by FM's character. No news outlet would actually have said something like that for fear of being sued.
10 - The new chief of police taking his sweet time to enter the station and only after what appears to be half and hour or so dismisses Sam Rockwell from his job.
11 - Who the hell helped clean up all the broken glass and monitored the situation which was happening just outside the station then. All the cops were inside the station as if NOTHING had happened.
12 - Some random guy coming into the gift shop to threaten FM's character, saying that he wished he could have been the one to rape her daughter. Ends up he was nowhere in the vicinity or even in the country when this happened. How does he know where to find FM? Why doesn't she chase him down or at least get his license plate number after he leaves. To top it off she's saved by the late sheriff's wife showing up to deliver a letter left by Woody.
13 - The billboards are burning down when FM and her son drive by and they conveniently have a 50 gallon fire extinguisher in the front seat...
14 - SR just happens to be in the police station when FM decides to firebomb the station from across the street. She tries to call the station to warn him to get out (Call trace. But then just decides to set the station on fire with SR inside. Then conveniently Peter Dinklage's character just happens to be walking by and then becomes FM's alibi and then agrees to go on a date with him.
15 - FM & PD go on a date at the "nice restaurant" in town and her ex-husband and his 19 y/o girlfriend just happen to show up.
16 - SR is out of the hospital after maybe 24 hours after having "severe burns" and decides to go for a drink at the same exact time as FM's colleague who he had arrested & the billboard guy and to TOP it off the random guy who might have raped her daughter are all in the same bar. The random guy is bragging about having committed a rape just out of the blue when SR is sitting right next to him and then when SR goes outside, comes back, he finally asks if that guy has been sitting behind him the whole night. SR was like 6 inches away there is NO WAY he didn't know he wasn't there. Then all of a sudden when SR goes to the bar the guy acts like he has a big problem and they get into a big fight where SR decides to scratch the guy to obtain a DNA sample instead of simply calling the police and at the very most detaining the guy until the police arrive.
Probably one of the biggest stupid parts of the entire film.
Seriously 4 linked characters all randomly showing up at the bar. The guy admitting to a rape in public very well knowing someone is right behind him. A cop who had just read a note from his mentor saying he knows he has the potential to be a good police officer and he goes and does something as stupid as that. br> MOST IMPLAUSIBLE SCENE EVER. br> 17 - The new chief of police informs SR that the DNA was not a match and the guy was not even in the country but in a place that was sandy. WTF is this about? Just poorly written and absolutely does not make sense that that random guy was even in the town to begin with.
18 - FM & SR decide to go to Idaho to track down the guy because while they may not be able to solve the case which actually means something to them, that guy was probably a rapist and deserves to die to. br> Good luck finding him in Idaho being that he was just in your town a few days ago. Yeah ok. br> What a waste. This film truly could have been something which raised real questions about the role of the police force in society and how corruption, racism, sexism, homophobia are being addressed in rural communities but nope it just turned into the biggest laughable POS in recent memory.
Don't watch this film.

As more films skip theaters and head straight to streaming, we asked our critics to talk openly about what many whisper about: that many of these films are just good enough. Credit... Dale Robinette/Disney Plus In 2015, Tom McCarthy made the journalism drama “Spotlight, ” which won the Oscar for best picture. This year his follow-up feature, “Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made, ” skipped theaters and headed directly to Disney Plus. Best picture it won’t be. As the streaming landscape expands and more movies bypass a theatrical release to land on your welcome screen, we wondered: do these movies have a quality issue? Or should we accept that most streaming-only movies are “good enough”? We put these questions to critics who regularly review these movies for The Times. Should we have lower expectations for the quality of streaming-only movies? Should they be considered the modern equivalent of straight-to-video, or are they headed in a different direction? JASON BAILEY It’s tempting to put straight-to-streaming movies in the same box as straight-to-video, and a fair number of them achieve the same function; streaming-service home pages need “filler, ” new content to feed an ever-widening maw, as much as video stores once did. But I think it’s more accurate to think of the streaming platforms in terms of the old studio system. MGM, Fox, Paramount, et al., much like Netflix, controlled not only the means of production, but also their own distribution networks (in the form of studio-owned theaters). So they had to create a lot of product. And thus, some of their films were A-list, with big stars and high production values, and sometimes they made B-movies, with lower budgets, lesser performers and less attention. Netflix is doing roughly the same thing, and it’s not hard to sniff out the difference between, say, “The Irishman” and “Sextuplets. ” ELISABETH VINCENTELLI I agree that Netflix, Amazon et al. have become the new studios — at least in terms of putting movies in front of eyeballs, since they don’t always participate in the production process and just pick up distribution rights. And they’re better at it than legacies like Warner Bros. or Universal or Sony Pictures, which have little interest in “Okja” or “The Land of Steady Habits. ” Streaming has also made it easier to find two categories that have long been undervalued in the U. S. The first is foreign films, from prestige entries like “Roma” to smart fluff like the candy-colored French comedy-thriller “The World Is Yours” — it’s great to see how other countries tackle genre. The second category is B movies: tight actioners ( “Gerald’s Game”), surprisingly fun star vehicles (yes, “Bright” is awesome), anything Steven Soderbergh feels like making on his phone. Now, how to find the good stuff? KYLE TURNER While I am inclined to agree with the points that Jason and Elisabeth have made about streaming platforms playing the role of new studios, it is hard for me not to think of these platforms as tech companies in the guise of studios. It’s a similar kind of factory churning out the same kind of product that the old studios did, but with an added element of data mining. What is frustrating is that, as opposed to browsing a video store or even walking into one of these B-movies blindly at the theater, it’s much easier for the gems (particularly films that have been picked up for distribution, as opposed to produced by one of the platforms) to get buried beneath something that the platform wants to push harder. To Elisabeth’s point, the question is how to find the gems? I think the rhetoric of egalitarianism is insidiously misleading. NATALIA WINKELMAN Oh man, lowering expectations for movies feels depressing. Like Jason said, distinguishing between “Marriage Story” and “The Kissing Booth” is easy, and it’s our job to take each on its own terms, as the saying goes. Yet my favorite streaming originals tend to be outside of the A or B-list categories: the smaller, indie titles that might have trouble jockeying for attention among the hundreds of others featured. As Kyle pointed out, many of these are being purchased out of film festivals — “The Incredible Jessica James, ” “Tramps” — and there’s clearly a learning curve for the platforms when it comes to promoting them later on. These movies are surely appearing on my streaming home pages, but the Big Brother algorithms might do them dirty for others. I think we can, and should, encourage the platforms to balance data mining with curation. We should expect more of them rather than less. CANDICE FREDERICK I think straight to-video and streaming-only are different entities, and the former does have the reputation of being of lesser quality. I consider streaming-only contributions along the same bar as TV movies. But the last 10 years or so have taught us that the small screen often has more progressive and compelling content than the big screen. So, I don’t think we should lower our standards because of an outdated perception of TV content. This is complicated by the fact that there is limitless content on streaming platforms, creating more opportunities for poor-quality movies to find a home. That’s just math. But that doesn’t negate the fact that streaming-only options are viable players in the game and should be treated with as much integrity as you would anything else. While awards aren’t everything, the current setup of industry accolades leaves most streaming-only movies out of the party. We’ll only be seeing more of these movies as the industry shifts. Should they get their own category of awards consideration? WINKELMAN As of late, streaming platforms have sometimes gotten around the Oscars’ pesky theatrical requirement by “four-walling” — or renting out temporary theater space — for any movies they deem worth betting on. That allows their prestige releases to play in the same game, and at least partially preserves the tradition of a theatrical release in the process. Adding streaming-only awards categories might seem like a way to confer importance — and encourage improved quality — but I don’t think that’s how it would work in practice. Segregating streaming movies could have an opposite effect, suggesting that they are fundamentally different or less artful. It’s also a little patronizing, given that deserving streaming titles are already being recognized — both at the Oscars and the Emmys, where HBO Films pushed for the fantastic “The Tale. ” The idea reminds me of the academy’s accursed popular films award, which was promptly backpedaled after it was met with resounding scorn. TURNER Natalia’s point resonates with me, particularly in the sense that a category for streaming-based movies would suggest that these movies were inherently different; that something in their making was crucially unlike other movies that could be in contention. A streaming category would only be about the format, not about content, like the way the Golden Globes recognize, say, comedies that would otherwise get sidelined during awards season. But the theatrical-screening practices of Netflix suggests the bizarre priorities and flaws within both streaming and awards: what Netflix will release theatrically is extremely selective in the grand scheme of their original content library, and awards are similarly selective in what they’ll even consider, even with the industry’s political pushing. Including festival pickups, these platforms already have a library of fascinating titles whose visibility is flattened; a new awards category would just encourage both streaming platforms’ and awards givers’ bad habits of neglect. FREDERICK I think that adding a special category for streaming-only films would not only suggest that they’re different, but that they’re also of lesser quality than other nominated films. And a lot of times that’s just not true. I do think that streaming platforms will have a lot to sift through in terms of what they think is a viable contender for, say, an Academy Award (if they choose to put the film in theaters to qualify it). To combat that, they might become more selective about acquiring content. Still, even if a movie isn’t considered to have a good shot at a nomination, that doesn’t mean it’s not a good movie. Viewers deserve a variety of films, including ones (like the comedy “Someone Great”) that aren’t considered “prestige” by an extremely finite group. BAILEY It’s tempting to resist framing awards as affirmation, since we all know how flawed that thinking is (and everyone has their own list of unjustly ignored and/or unduly rewarded films to make that case). But it’s very clear that this is a goal for the streamers, and probably a frustration. Is there any doubt that if a traditional studio released “Marriage Story” or “The Irishman, ” they would have taken home far more Oscars than they did? But to my thinking, this sort of recognition, this confirmation of legitimacy, is inevitable — because the shifting of the industry is inevitable (indeed, already well underway). The film business may be liberal in politics, but it’s conservative in practice; there is, undeniably, resistance to changes in the basic business model. But eventually, films will come along that are simply too good to be stigmatized, and that’ll be that. Until then, to borrow a phrase from an aforementioned film, it’s what it is. VINCENTELLI I agree with Jason that streaming originals will inevitably become legitimate contenders for awards, with or without a theatrical run. This means that streaming platforms will have to be more selective, as Candice said — though not about what they acquire, which will remain a lot, but in terms of what they decide to market and how. In that way they will be even more like the studios of yore, which would make prestige films, middlebrow fare and drive-in fodder. That comparison is reinforced by Netflix making public a “Top 10 in the U. Today” list — we’re getting a little closer to something akin to box-office figures for streaming, minus actual numbers. If we ever get cross-platform figures, then we’ll be even closer to a certain old-school model of tallying commercial success. And so now we have circled back to the idea of curation: awards and indicators of popularity are a form of that after all. Perhaps there is also a future for us critics!

Las escuelas deben usar las TIC como un juego para el aprendizaje

Por una parte las TIC pueden utilizarse como un juego divertido para el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje o de adquisición de conocimientos y a la vez pienso que el docente puede evaluar el desarrollo tanto creativo como cognoscitivo del niño de una forma lúdica.  

El alumno debe descubrir individualmente las actividades y procesos paso por paso al utilizar estas TIC y el docente debe actuar como facilitador y no evaluar el proceso, para que el mismo pueda  construir su aprendizaje, socialice y se divierta conociendo nuevas cosas y se convierta en un aprendizaje significativo. 

Los niños de esta época tienen mucha información a través de las TIC es por ello que el docente también debe asumir un rol de docente-mediador y llevar este manejo de tecnología por el camino correcto, para que los alumnos puedan comunicarse, aprender, expresarse, informarse, entre otros.  

Aunque el tema es un poco contradictorio, debemos tener en cuenta y resaltar que hoy en día el docente debe implementar las TIC en el aula e innovar las técnicas y recursos que se han venido utilizando desde hace muchos años atrás y que aún se siguen implementando.

Tecnología y Comportamiento:

Es curioso ver como en la antigüedad los seres humanos lograban vivir sin utilizar ningún tipo de tecnología, y que con el paso del tiempo cada día las personas nos hacemos más dependientes de esta, por ejemplo, en la actualidad existen personas que sienten que deben tener siempre un teléfono celular consigo o para no sentirse desconectados del mundo, como también existen personas que piensan que si viviéramos sin tecnología todos serían más felices y no habría tanto stress.

La Ciencia y la Tecnología revolucionan nuestras vidas, pero la memoria, la tradición y el mito determinan nuestra respuesta”.

Como ya sabemos la tecnología desde la antigüedad ha sido utilizada para satisfacer necesidades esenciales de las personas, como por ejemplo en la alimentación, vestimenta, vivienda, protección personal, relación social, comprensión del mundo natural y social, es por ello que se ha tomado un comportamiento de aceptación y de forma muy positiva en la actualidad ya que estas nos han ayudado a hacer la vida más fácil y/o práctica.

Sin duda la tecnología y el comportamiento de las personas son dos variables que se cruzan necesariamente en la confluencia determinante del futuro, un futuro que construiremos sobre las mejores decisiones de hoy.

Hipermedia en la educación:

Hipermedia es el término con que se designa al conjunto de métodos o procedimientos para escribir, diseñar, o componer contenidos que tengan texto, video, audio, mapas u otros medios, y que además tenga la posibilidad de interactuar con los usuarios.

 

El enfoque hipermedia de estos contenidos, los califica especialmente como medios de comunicación e interacción humanas, en este sentido, un espacio hipermedia es un ámbito, sin dimensiones físicas, que alberga, potencia y estructura las actividades de las personas. Actualmente la Hipermedia se ha ido utilizado como herramienta para la educación, como por ejemplo la utilización de:

 

• LaWorld Wide Web Que es un sistema de documentos de hipertexto enlazados y accesibles a través de Internet
• Las películas almacenadas en un DVD. En la cual se utilizan las imágenes, las imágenes fotográficas, el video, la televisión, los discos compactos (CDS), entre otros.
• Las presentaciones enPowerPoint: Es un programa de presentación que puede ser utilizado en el campo de la enseñanza, ya que es una forma práctica y fácil de manejar, en él se puede trabajar con gráficos, imágenes, animaciones entre otros, que son de ayuda para hacer de la enseñanza un método más dinámico, digerible y entendible.

 

Problemática de la Educación en Venezuela:

En Venezuela existen diversos problemas en educación, entre los cuales resaltaremos:

En nuestro país siempre ha existido una falta de organización por parte de la sociedad como también por parte del estado Venezolano, existen leyes que deberían ser reformadas ya que algunas veces se contradicen entre las mismas, también existen leyes que aunque son muy buenas, no son cumplidas o no existe una supervisión continua para lograr este cumplimiento.

 

También podemos decir que el Estado en conjunto con el Ministerio de Educación deben garantizar una educación gratuita y de calidad (Tanto escolar como universitaria) Aunque existe este tipo de educación en nuestro país, en muchos de los casos encontramos problemas como los siguientes;

 

• Instituciones deterioradas.
• La educación no es de fácil acceso,
• No se brinda una educación de calidad
• Instituciones que brindan un servicio en el cual imparten conocimientos con fines políticos.

 

Entre otras, por las cuales no se brinda una formación integral en los individuos.

 

Es de suma importancia resaltar, que se debe mejorar la docencia que actualmente ejerce, como también la educación de los futuros docentes ya que muchas veces no se pone en práctica “El deber ser” de las escuelas en nuestros tiempos.
